In January 2006 I began building KIDS FOR BIRDS. My 3 field guides on New Zealand birds had finally gone out of print after 34 years, so I decided to use the images as the basis for this website. My aim was to produce a site that enabled easy navigation, lots of pictures and information on NZ birds and access to pictures, stories, games and puzzles, news and links, all bird related. My goal - to inspire kids to take an interest in birds and art. After many months building the site (and learning 'how to do it' all the way), it finally went online in August 06 and is now linked to many NZ Government learning websites.
I try to add to and update the site as often as I can. However, this takes up a lot of time, all of which I have to donate. The site is free for all and anyone to utilise and I hope a useful resourse for adults and children who are interested in New Zealand birds.
